I have come to the conclusion that the appropriate shutter speed for photographing dance is a heartbeat. Usually I have no choice but to go for high ISO, slow shutter speed and wide open apertures, due to the predilection of dancing tango in dimly lit rooms. But this time I had the opportunity to move up towards 1/125, freezing the action, and I stayed away from it. A static frozen shot of a dancer gives no sense of their motion. For me, though perhaps technically incorrect, that blur is perfect.
